If it's always been your dream to see all your favorite Star Wars themes transformed into knitted and crocheted creations such as a 5-foot tall Chewbacca plush, then, well, you're a total nerd and you will be warmly welcomed at Stitch Wars which opens 7-10 p.m. Saturday at Bear and Bird in Lauderhill and runs through Aug. 29.

There are 46 exhibiting artists but we're just going to provide links to some of the ones that don't use their real names because we deeply respect the privacy of people who knit and crochet Star Wars creatures. Among them are:  Absolutely Small, Weird Bug Lady, Yummy Pancake, Violet Pie, Spooky Daddy, Cutesypoo, Love and a Sandwich and The House of Mouse. A bonus feature: Members of the 501st Legion, a group that's been "bringing order to the galaxy since 1997," will be in full costume for the opening night reception.Oh, and a special Stitch Wars blog has been established solely for this event.
