One of the best things about Purdy Lounge is that it embraces two words that are scarcely ever uttered in the trendy South Beach scene: no cover. The bar boasts an impressive selection of 30 different kinds of beer, such as milk stout and blueberry wheat ale (plus your basic Budweiser and Miller Lite), as well as classic cocktails. Guests can relax on comfy couches amid colorful lava lamps, pink Christmas lights and samples of local artwork. Live music acts play weekly.

And, as if all the good music and cheap drinks weren't enough, Purdy also caters to closet nerds everywhere - by hosting a monthly spelling bee. Purdy Lounge hosts a live reggae band every Monday night. The last Wednesday of every month is reserved for The Spam Allstars, a highly popular local Cuban Afro-funk band with a growing fanbase around the country. Ladies drink free every Thursday night from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., and Chocolate Sundays feature $5 Jagermeister shots with a bottle of Miller High Life.
