Besides the occasional scurvy and general disregard for dentistry, a pirate’s life still appeals to many people. And there is no better place to find these types than The Pirate Bar. Located behind a seafaring retail space called The Pirate Republic, this beachside bar is no bigger than a cubbyhole yet draws fun, rowdy women and large, bearded men who have just the right amount of “pirattitude” to make for a memorable party. On any given night, guests can take part in a Walk the Plank drinking contest, in which a shot of sake is placed on two chopsticks atop a glass of beer. At the throaty, fist-pounding command of your serving wench, chug fast and let out a collective and unavoidable “Arrrrgh!” with the rest of your mates. The Pirate Bar hosts the annual Talk Like a Pirate Day party and several other themed gatherings throughout the year.
