Check out Metromix’s top picks of classic soirees (some of which have undergone makeovers) and fresh-featured fiestas that might still be on the hush. These parties are geared toward urban professionals and scenesters, but be prepared for a run-in with Dwyane Wade or Beyonce. We’ve got the inside scoop on where they’re headed, for your eyes only.
Christabelle's Quarter
3157 Commodore Plaza,
Coconut Grove
Head over to Society Sundays at Christabelle’s Quarter in Coconut Grove for a three-floor, all-night shindig. This old-school New Orleans restaurant and bar throws down Cajun-style on the second floor, which later converts to a VIP room where treatment includes bottle service, nonstop hip-hop, r&b and reggae to set the mood. The party doesn’t stop until 2 a.m., so if you’re still hung over from a wild Saturday night, feel free to stroll in fashionably late.
The Forge
432 41st St., Miami BeachThe weekly Soul Kitchen Sundays at The Forge attracts well-known Miami scenesters, from top promoters to award-winning entertainers and championship athletes: Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Beyonce, Jay-Z and Tyrese, just to name a few. But the celebs don’t just come for the music and the urban scene; they also come for Sunday’s soul-food menu, which includes biscuits and gravy, mac and cheese, grits and fried chicken.
Cameo
1445 Washington Ave., Miami BeachAfter a weekend of craziness, a lot of party hoppers choose to take off a night or two, but if you’re a champ and plan on heading out to the Beach, sans a case of the Mondays, check out Dirty Sexy Mondays at Cameo. The ongoing weekly party has drawn in names like Ciara and Casely, while throwing themed events to hype up the crowd with old-school concerts and impromptu performances. The Washington Avenue hotspot hosts ladies free of charge before 1 a.m. and enforces a sleek and sexy dress code at the door.
Karu & Y
71 NW 14th St,
Miami
Premiering near the end of last year, Karu&Y’s Thursday night party is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after parties in 2008. Hosting soirees for the 2008 South Beach Comedy Festival’s Katt Williams and Miami Heat superstar Dwyane Wade’s celebrity birthday celebration, Headliner Market Group’s Karu&Y fiesta is attracting A-listers left and right. NFL stars, actors and hip-hoppers are making their way to the Downtown party to kick off the weekend in style.
The Fifth
1045 Fifth St. , Miami BeachEvery great party deserves an upscale transition, and that is exactly what The 400 Club decided when it recently renovated the long-time urban attraction. Formerly celebrated at Harrison’s, the folks hit the hotspot this time around, bringing it over to a chic locale, The Fifth. The Friday night festivities go down weekly, as DJs Entice and LS-One turn tracks on the tables. Appearance is key to be a member of The 400 Club, so without a classy, chic ensemble, don’t expect entry.
