SUNDAY 25
SUPER CHEESY EIGHTIES PROM
Last year, Respectable Street hosted a group of mods, geeks and dorks dressed in Day-Glo colors all trying to relive part of a decade during which they never actually lived. The attendees were barely zygotes when the schmaltzy, horrible songs blaring over the club’s sound system were first released. Nonetheless, we encourage you to drape yourself in primary colors, sew pads into the shoulders of your jacket and make your hair stand straight up while worshiping at the altar of Flock of Seagulls.
Location: Respectable Street, 518 Clematis St., West Palm Beach
Time: 8 p.m.
Cost: Free

WEDNESDAY 21
SHE WANTS REVENGE
The world probably doesn’t need another mopey band with a complete-sentence name, but when you’re the newest incarnation of Joy Division and Bauhaus, the gloomy implications of a name like She Wants Revenge seem entirely appropriate. The dark, new-wave duo has steadily garnered attention since 2006, when it released its self-titled debut. In 2007, it released its second album, This Is Forever. Be Your Own Pet, and indie-rock bands Switches and The Virgins will open.
Location: Revolution Live, 200 W. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Cost: $16

SATURDAY 25
WARRIORS COLLIDE 5
Carlos Garcia of the Miami-based Young Tigers will fight Kyle Fanelli of Elite Muay Thai for the ISKA Welterweight Belt at Warriors Collide 5, a mixed- martial-arts competition. Muay Thai, or Thai boxing, is similar to kung fu and is also known as “the art of eight limbs” because it uses eight points of contact (hands, elbows, knees and shins) instead of two, like regular boxing, or four as in traditional martial arts. Other matches include Mike Ozuna of US1 Fitness vs. Jacen Baker of American Top Team Deerfield. We’re pulling for Baker — especially since Top Team’s training facility is just down the street from our office, and they terrify us.
Location: War Memorial Auditorium, 800 N.E. Eighth St., Fort Lauderdale
Time: 6 p.m.
Cost: $20-$75
