Thursday 03
2 Live Crew with DJ Funk, DJ Contra and Induce

Since its 1989 release As Nasty As They Wanna Be, 2 Live Crew has been shocking and rocking booties with classics such as “Me So Horny,” “We Want Some Pussy” and “Do the Damn Thing.” Tonight, the explicit hip-hop pioneers from the 305 will be joined by hip-hop DJs Funk, Contra and Induce. At this point, the members of 2 Live Crew are living history: They generated more controversy than N.W.A., helped create the Miami bass sound and launched the career of Uncle Luke, who seems to be the Kevin Bacon of hip-hop. Seriously, try playing Six Degrees of Luther Campbell. You can’t lose.

Location: The Vagabond, 30 N.E. 14th St., Miami

Time: 10 p.m.

Cost: $15

Revenge of the Nerd Comics

Comedian Lisa Corrao will host this showcase of geeky comedy by Nhan Du, Mario Mateo, Kirk Meadows, Adrian Mesa, Joe Pustizzi, Ivan Hernandez and Brett Bigenho. While the comics crack jokes about everything from first dates to comic-book conventions, Hernandez does a pee-in-your-pants-funny routine about inviting a girl home to knock boots in his Spider-Man sheets. Attendees may win prizes including T-shirts and comic books.

Location: The Hollywood Improv at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, 5700 Seminole Way, Hollywood

Time: 8 p.m.

Cost: $12

Contact: 954-981-5653 or Improvftl.com

Thursday 03
Rabbit in the Moon

This Tampa-based electronica group consists of frontman Bunny and producers Monk and Confucius. Known for its live shows, Rabbit in the Moon lures the audience into a psychedelic circus by flashing trippy images on video screens, dressing up in spacesuits and other wacky costumes and hurling glow sticks at the crowd. The group will play two shows tonight; the first is all-ages, the second is for people 21 and older.

Location: Revolution Live, 200 W. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale

Time: 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Cost: $25-$35

Thursday 03-Saturday 12
Classic Albums Live: Led Zeppelin II

The Classic Albums Live series, which originated in Toronto, features a variety of musicians who mimic tunes from icons such as The Beatles, Janis Joplin, The Doors and, in tonight’s case, Led Zeppelin. While Led Zeppelin II likely came out before you were born, it’s a classic that spawned hits such as “Whole Lotta Love” and “Ramble On.” Although we admire the series’ concept, it certainly has its limits. Picture a Good Charlotte cover band in the year 2048 playing Good Morning Revival. Now, that just wouldn’t sell.

Location: Paradise Live at the Seminole Hard Rock, 1 Seminole Way, Hollywood

Time: 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, through July 12

Cost: $20

Contact: Seminolehardrockhollywood.com

Saturday 05
Poplife featuring Gameboy/Gamegirl and Miami Horror

Break out the gummy bracelets, leg warmers and fingerless gloves: It’s time to groove to the electro-’80s synth sounds of Australia’s Gameboy/Gamegirl and new-wave beatmakers Miami Horror. Poplife’s parties are all about looking as cool as you feel, so pretend you’re in a hip Melbourne club but have avoided the 21-hour flight.

Location: The White Room, 1306 N. Miami Ave., Miami

Time: 10 p.m.-5 a.m.

Cost: $10

Contact: 305-995-5060 or Whiteroommiami.com
