Kelly Macdonald:
"It’s before you work with them that you think it’s going to be something new, something different. And it’s really not, it’s not like they’re this two-headed freak show thing. They’re two different people, but it just works. Once you’ve started filming you don’t even remember you’re dealing with two people, it’s so very laid back on the set. You don’t get two people barking orders at you. It’s completely equal, they’re both there always and they’re both on the same page."
Josh Brolin:
"[Working with them] is easy. It’s not weird, they’re not little freaks that walk around and do a funny, kooky Coen thing. We’d all like to believe that—Planet Coen. They’re really sweet, really collaborative. They don’t not listen, I’ve worked with a lot of directors that half listen to you. They’re extremely attentive. And they tweak [the material during filming]."
Javier Bardem:
"This is a dream come true for me. The first moment I saw 'Blood Simple' I was hit by it in a way that I haven’t been hit by any other director. They are great masters in filmmaking history. The Coens are truly particular and truly unique. If you go into a bar in Spain and say 'I’m going to do a movie with the Coens' a good 60-70% of the bar will go 'really!?' It was an honor, I had to pinch myself sometimes on set. Now even more because I’ve met them. They are great. Not disappointing at all, it’s the opposite."
