All that the hormonal followers of the Tomb Raider video game desired in a cinematic version of its heroine was a cartoonishly buxom leading lady who could fire a pair of phallic pistols with fierce aggression. Jolie fit the bill perfectly, and supplied more poise and playful sensuality than the hopelessly pedestrian franchise deserved.
