At Cafe Iguana, Campbell pointed across the red carpet to Mr. Mixx (real name: David Hobbs), the legendary Miami bass producer and former 2 Live Crew member. "We owe it all to this man right here," Campbell says. "He's the one who produced it all. So all of the credit goes to him."
Mr. Mixx—who produced the 2 Live Crew albums "As Nasty As They Wanna Be," "Move Somethin'" and "Sports Weekend: As Clean As They Wanna Be, Part 2"—will gladly take that credit. "I was the one who created the whole Miami bass sound," he boasts. "But all of the stuff was based off early dance records from the late '70s and early '80s. If you listen to our records closely, a lot of stuff is sampled from records from that era."
