When you think of restaurants owned by former pro athletes, you generally think of no-frills sports bars with memorabilia hanging on the walls. While Dan Marino's features plenty of jerseys, helmets and photos on the walls, the cuisine and atmosphere are more upscale. Start with the basil bisque, then move on to the nut-crusted mahi-mahi. When the Dolphins play, this spot offers themed specials that tie in with the Dolphins' opponent. A recent game against the Carolina Panthers featured specials like black-eyed peas, a pulled-pork sandwich and friend oysters.

The meatloaf, ribs and spinach dip are my favorit. I have been in this restaurant at least three times and always have the same.
