The Dish
The chicken parmigiana sub ($6.50) is a thick, lightly breaded, moist, split breast on a large Italian roll. It's immersed in a sweet marinara sauce and blanketed by fresh mozzarella.
We also try the house cheese pizza ($10 for a 14–inch pie), which was a round, thin crust baked crisp. The pizza shares the same sweet marinara as the sandwich, and the cheese melts smoothly over the crust.
Romeo's also offers some gourmet pizzas, such as Romeo's Vegetarian made with mushrooms, onions, green peppers, black olives, spinach and broccoli ($16.50 for a 14–inch pie).
We are less impressed with the chicken Caesar salad ($7.95 for a small) than we are with our sandwich. It consists of small chunks of grilled chicken that are a bit fatty, with cucumbers, green olives and tomatoes over a bed of lettuce. While the vegetables are fresh, the tart dressing (served on the side, as requested) is more like a vinaigrette in consistency than a hearty Caesar that I would have preferred. The salad comes with garlic knots.
All food travels fairly well in foam containers.
