It’s a hybrid

Made from equal parts breakfast and lunch, the word itself is what’s called a portmanteau, but I prefer to call it a hybrid, even if it does date back to 1896. And if the blend of both meals means I get two distinct components performing essentially the same function, so be it, because it also means I get the best of both worlds. Not to mention the best of both words–the beginning, and the end.
