New study says gator may saves lives; but leave the catching to the professionals

It’s not gator season just yet, but Metromix has another reason why you
shouldn’t wait to go green. Recent studies say gator blood could be the
root of many of society’s next lifesaving drugs. Possible drugs
include “creams to treat ulcers of diabetes patients or prevent
infections in amputees.” They’ve found that the protein in gator blood
already fights 23 kinds of bacteria, three times as many as the
proteins in human blood.
Who knew South Florida’s scaly and slippery canal neighbors could be more than just dog–eating pests? Gator is not the easiest animal to capture or to cook, but it really does taste like chicken.
Here are the best
places to find Florida's favorite gator with a hint of tartar sauce. It's Earth Day. Go thank a gator.
