Chef Adrienne Calvo is hot, and not just because of her red hair. At 24-years-old she’s conquered what some chefs strive to achieve in a lifetime. Not only has Calvo, a Cuban-Miamian, fed the likes of Will Smith, P. Diddy and John Travolta, she’s also been featured on Univision, national radio, NBC and “The Montel Williams Show” and has written two books: “Maximum Flavor” and, still in the works, “Experience Taste.”
Now, the little chica who once got busted in middle school for selling chocolate chip cookies to her classmates after raking in about $200 a week, has managed to parlay her talents into owning Chef Adrienne’s Vineyard Restaurant & Wine Bar in Kendall. The charming spot with Bordeaux-colored walls and tall black banquettes serves up classic dishes like steak au poivre, organic soups, wild fish and free-range chicken.
Most recently, Calvo’s restaurant was named number one place to eat by Urban Spoon Guide. Metromix sat down with the cookie-embezzler-turned-celebrity chef to see how life’s been in the hot lane.
